Gaetano Senese, better known as James, was born in the Miano neighborhood of Naples on Jan. 6, 1945, the son of African American soldier James Smith and a young Neapolitan girl, Anna Senese. Ethnic contamination meant that James found his identity in music from a very young age. Thus began his career as a saxophonist, and in 1961 he would take part in the first musical group "Gigi and His Asters," together with his friend Mario Musella. Thanks to their great friendship and passion for the musical scenario they shared, James and Mario gave great relevance to "neapolitan power," the movement that would renew Neapolitan music in the late 1960s and early 1980s. In the midst of the 1970s, he founded with his friend Franco Del Prete, Napoli Centrale, with whom he would have unparalleled success from the release of their first album. A mixture of traditional, progressive rock and jazz. From the early 1980s, after debuting on Pino Daniele's album, he decided to pursue a solo career, which, however, would not find the success he had as a member belonging to a band. In recent years, James, has resumed playing with Napoli Centrale, launching one more album and continuing to tour the world, to spread his revolutionary music. 

Jazz is a bearer of meanings; it is a musical genre that was born after World War I as a form of rebellion. An expression of an uncompromising freedom, jazz is configured as a unique genre, the bearer of emancipation and freedom: values that we find in the universe of denim, which has always been linked to the world of music.
